The Paris police headquarters announced to Libération this Monday evening its intention to ban the "May 9 Committee," the annual Parisian neo-fascist parade that drew nearly a thousand people last year. The counter-demonstration planned by left-wing movements is also in the authorities' sights.

Authorities say they fear "clashes." The Paris police headquarters announced Monday evening to Libération that Prefect Laurent Nuñez has decided to ban the neo-fascist "C9M" parade, scheduled for Saturday, May 10, in the capital's 6th arrondissement. This annual demonstration by the movement has in recent years turned into a show of force by radical activists, with previous editions causing scandals . Last year, nearly a thousand thugs took to the streets at the organizers' call. The police headquarters also wants to ban the counter-demonstration planned by the left. At this stage, only "the adversarial procedure to ban" the two parades has been initiated.
